Moye O’Brien represented the managing general contractor providing advice in contract administration. It also advised the client in developing  and pursuing claims exceeding $550 million seek payment from the owner for project delays and project-wide disruption. The dispute arose from one of the largest airport expansion projects in U.S. history, effectively creating a mid-sized airport within an operational facility. Designed by five firms, the expansion added 50 new gates, 123 ticket counters, 119 self-service kiosks, and 72 federal inspection service locations. It also included new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services facilities, a cutting-edge baggage system capable of processing 45,000 bags per day, nearly two miles of escalators and moving walkways, and an automated people mover. The project also enhanced the passenger experience with expanded concessions and customer service areas, significantly improving capacity and efficiency at one of the nation’s busiest airports.
