Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit of North Approach Viaduct

Moye O’Brien represented the general contractor in developing and pursuing claims against the owner for project-wide delay and disruption. Moye O’Brien also successfully represented the general contractor in litigation with the painting subcontractor and its surety in a four-week trial and appeal. The disputes arose from the seismic retrofit of the Golden Gate Bridge, a five-year project aimed at improving its resilience against earthquakes. The project scope included strengthening five independent truss spans by connecting them to move as a single unit. Additionally, four steel support towers were replaced one by one, with new foundations constructed for each. Strict precautions were taken to protect the species and its habitat while ensuring the project’s successful completion.
