Turcot Interchange
Moye O’Brien advised the design-builder in developing and pursuing claims exceeding $190 million from the project owner for project delays and project-wide disruption. The dispute arose from the reconstruction of the Turcot Interchange in Montreal, a critical transportation hub carrying 300,000 vehicles daily, including 30,000 trucks. The project involved rebuilding 42 bridges, including 34 steel girder bridges and a new cable-stayed bridge over the Lachine Canal. Additionally, it required the reconstruction and relocation of Highways A15, A20, and A720, covering over 90 miles of highway lanes, as well as the relocation of almost 10 miles of railway track and the construction of almost 700,000 square feet of retaining walls. Situated in a dense urban environment, the project had to be executed while maintaining full interchange operations.
